The Internet released their newest song/music visual tonight on Halloween Night. The song is dope. Sounds real Neptunes-inspired. #nextlevel Check it out. #nextinshow
It's official, Lana Del Rey has inked a deal with Interscope Records. A perfect choice for if I didn't say so myself. She has such badass music visuals and her rude attitude makes her that much hotter. I can guarantee a classic in the making for Lanaunder the Interscope umbrella. She is currently shooting a video for her next single, Born 2 Die in a castle in France with Woodkid. Expect something great from Lana Del Rey in early 2012. #nextinshow

In a generation where any average joe can record a mixtape and release it to the world for free, it's safe to say that their isn't much originality anymore. We can make an exception with A$AP Rocky though. He has sparked the flame with his acid-tripped anthem 'Peso' and 'Purple Swag'. He has put Harlem back on the map. Can't remember the last time I heard a Harlem shout out on a record. Diddy and the Family, or Harlem World. Anyways, it was just announced that A$AP is fresh off of signing a $3 million deal with Polo Grounds Music, a subdivision of Sony/RCA. The deal includes $1.7 million for himself as a solo artist, and $1.3 million to fund a group label called A$AP Worlwide. This kid has a bigger picture it seems. Be sure to get his newest mixtape, LIVELOVEA$AP releasing on Monday 31, 2011. Also check out an exclusive interview pitchfork did with the rapper. Pitchfork #nextinshow

Less than a year ago the internet was hit with a new group that had almost conspired over night. They go by Cocaine 80s and while you may not be familiar with the groups name, their members are only made up of some of the greatest lyricists, writers, and producers of our generation. Cocaine 80s was brought together by No I.D., mentor of Kanye West, and includes hip hop veteran Common, Steve Wyreman, Rob Kinelski, super writer Kevin Randolph, silent-but-deadly James Fauntleroy, and Makeba. Their might sound loosely like that of Frank Ocean's sound/swag, but don't try and compare the two because they really are very different. The album Ghost Lady was just released for free, using a twitter marketing scheme. All you have to do is tweet a brief default message about the ep and you can instantly download the Ep for free. The did the same for their first release. Listen to this 7 song Ep and make sure to hear to their debut album The Pursuit Ep.#nextinshow
"This album represents the last 10 years of my life..." - Kaskade When I think of electronic dance music, personally I am thinking Ryan Raddon aka Kaskade. For almost the past decade this amazingly stylish, and creative DJ has been tearing up not only the clubs, but the radio stations as well. His first hit 'Stepping Out' off his debut album reached #5 on Billboard dance charts. That song alone, at the time, was the reason I became interested in his music.
From then until now, he has gone on to release 7 more albums, each more unique and daring than the last. including his most recent forthcoming album Fire & Ice. He said in his promo, "This album represents the last 10 years of my life..." It is currently available only for digital download and will be officially released on November 8, 2011. Here is a mini review to hold you over.
Kaskade starts the album with a song called Eyes featuring talented singer, Mindy Gledhill. The thing about this album is that it is a 2-disc album(Fire/Ice). Fire includes 10 original tracks. Disc 2 is made up of Ice Mixes. The Ice Mixes are hot. I prefer them to the originals. It just fit me better, I'm just saying. Eyes was also the first single released back in August. Turn It Down featuring Rebecca & Fiona is the next song. I can almost immediately tell that this track is stepping out of the box, while keeping that classic Kaskade sound. Strange enough this was also the second single to the album released in September.
Lessons In Love goes indie, when Kaskade decides to collaborate with the alternative group Neon Trees. One of my favorites from Fire & Ice, but the Ice Mix is much more epic.
Lick It features super dubstep DJ/producer Skrillex. A lot of buzz has surrounded Skrillex in the recent months, from bringing out rapper Lupe Fiasco, to collaborating with Kaskade on this Fire & Ice album (He is known for collaborating with no one) Glad to see great minds continuing to come together and made beautiful music. Long time friend and collaborator to Kaskade, Haley is featured on Llove. Him and her go together like peanut butter and jelly or fire & ice...? Let Me Go features Marcus Bently who also co-produced the record. Waste Love is the next track from the album. It features danish singing duo Quadron. The track Ice follows. I am unsure why their is no Fire track. Thought it would have been obvious. Dan Black adds his 'wonky pop' vocals to the club hopper. Oh and in case you are unfamiliar with 'wonky pop' it's a term used to describe a loose grouping of musical acts that played what the BBC called "quirky, catchy and credible pop"... -_- Moving on, How long features a group that may still be an unknown to you. Late Night Alumni is actually a DJ group consisting of Ryan Raddon himself, as well as Finn Bjarnson, John Hancock, and vocalist Becky Jean Williams.
Room For Happiness featuring the ever-talented Skylar Grey. You may know her from appearances on Eminem's, I Need A Doctor, or Diddy Dirty Money's, Coming Home. She has an amazing voice and is also a highly talented writer. Look out for her solo album. Be sure to check this album out in it's entirety including the Ice Mixes portion. The party doesn't stop from start to finish. Be sure to check out Kaskademusic.com #enjoy #nextinshow@ihate_chris @uwantleroyslife
Here ye Here ye, let me be the first I hope to give you some fresh pondering to do. Now as we all know season 7 of Weeds ended with a quite literal "bang". Now if you haven't watched that episode yet I suggest you go and read my previous post WHO SHOT NANCY first. So people, we have been asking ourselves who actually shot or may have been Nancy's shooter. My question is Why So Serious? I mean the bigger and better question out there I believe is who the hell shot the supposed shooter. I've been reading comments from here to there and it seems as though no one gives a damn about who may have saved our beloved Nancy's life. If we are all really intrigued about who I believe DIDN'T shoot Nancy then why aren't we heads over heels about who just gave us a new season; I hope. Crazy people.
Let's start with this, we all know Nancy didn't get shot. You said it yourself in your comments. What we do know is that there was a gun and then a gun shot. We also know that the shot was a tad bit louder than what the "normal" perception of a silenced shot would sound like. Face the facts we all don't know what a silenced gun sounds like but we all have probably heard one on a video game or Lifetime movie. So when we hear the loudness of this shot I don't believe it was the silenced rifle. I feel as though one of our favorite past time friends may have returned for a visit. Perhaps Heylia had something to say to Nancy, maybe even make amends after she got robbed. Heylia has a gun right? Didn't she shoot that gun through the window at one of the thieves? And didn't that shot sound loud and thorough like any meaty shot from a revolver of that caliber should sound? Hmm, well that's a quite possible scenario.
Another quite capable shooter of the shooter would be Guillermo Garcia-Gomez. Where the shit goes the pigeons follow? Hey maybe not but he doe's have his smarts and could possibly have known that Nancy was in trouble. Maybe somehow him knowing about Tim Scottson looking for Nancy led him to go and warn her, in this case perfect timing. Say Esteban doesn't want Nancy dead at the hands of someone else, maybe he's protecting her. He does have privileged access to privileged information doesn't he? I doubt this would be it but hey never know. One thing I know for sure is that it wasn't Isabelle and it wasn't Conrad, but I hope it's Conrad because the show needs him. If it was any of the Hodes family it would be Dean. After the robbery he has a great reason to carry a gun and plenty of reasons to want to find and speak with Nancy. Celia Hodes I hope stays away because she just causes problems.
Ok, so now I'm going to throw my best bet out there. Well my best two bets. First, Detective frank Oullette. He has all the reasons to want to spy on Nancy and courtesy of Shane the 411 on all her whereabouts. Seeing as though a large scale bust on a previous large scale mover - she went to jail as proof - would give him the uplift in spirit he needs I doubt he'd let somebody take his bacon. It would however blow his cover but he could in smart cover that up with a simple "I'm visiting Shane" excuse. This maybe would bring him on as a player for Nancy or give him the gratification of stopping an attempted assassination. Jenji Kohan said the sniper was a previous season cast member meaning anyone we saw on this season can't be the sniper. This means the Detective is prime candidate with rhyme and reason to have a gun, spy on Nancy and be obligated to protect and to serve. Sounds good to me.
Last but not least my second bet would be Emma Karlin. That tramp has nothing better to do. Not sure where she'd get the gun. But if there's some teamwork to be worked on than this right here is a clear cut "I do" in Nancy's trust book. Make sense?
Rihanna has been releasing hit after hit after hit since she released her debut album, Music of the Sun back in 2005. It wasn't long ago, November 2010 that Rihanna released her platinum selling album Loud. She was considering doing a re-release of the project because it had done so well, but recently tweeted that she will be doing an entirely new project. The release of her forthcoming album Talk That Talk is due out November 21, 2011. Her first single from the album is We Found Love produced by Calvin Harris and earlier today the visual for the song was released.
This video is so #amazing. Melina Matsoukas directed it. i was glued to the screen in awe throughout it's entirety. I think the rawness of the video is what struck my eye immediately. The concept is a powerful story about Rihanna and her "man", who by the way resembles a certain ex-boyfriend of hers. The song is a great club joint, and actually brings a smile to your face, but that is the complete opposite of what the visuals portray. "We fell in love in a hopeless place", goes the chorus. First part of the song is great. Shots of them doing PDA everywhere, being reckless, but then they pop a pill and a rollercoaster ride begins.
The video still looks like a party until the trip turns bad. The "trip" is their relationship and you can see them constantly fighting in the scenes after. Also abusing drugs and alcohol. ..We're young, deal with it. By the last scene, Rihanna is in a corner, alone.
Check out the video below. Look out for Talk That Talk album review from #nextinshow coming soon...
I have been listening to a lot of great music lately, but still, somehow haven't come across Phantogram. They release their Ep, Nightlife. The duo consists of Josh Carter on guitar and vocals and Sarah Barthel on keyboards and vocals. The band formed in 2007. Funny thing about them is they write and record in a remote barn in upstate New York. They refer to it as Harmony Lodge. The band was inspired by the optical illusion known as phantogram, a 2D image that is distorted in a particular way, from a vantage point looks three dimensional. Both Josh and Sarah have been friends since junior high. Earlier on they toured under the name Charlie Everywhere, but later changed the name to Phantogram when they signed with BBE on January 26, 2009. Now on November 1, 2011 Phantogram will release the Nightlife Ep.#nextinshow brings you an exclusive review. You can't pass on this album or this review.
16 Years is a synthesized indie pop record that stands strong as the mini-Lp's opening track. "16 years on the counterculture" is represented throughout the song. Sarah plays this song great live. Don't Move is track 2 and the first official single from the Ep. Melodic mpc chops make up the beat. A catchy electro-pop sound that could easily be found on your favorite indie radio station. Sarah adds great vocals at the perfect times to make this record stand out.
Turn into Stone almost immediately comes off as a radiohead inspired electro-synth pop record. The digital hi hat best represents the new direction Phantogram has taken. It wasn't long ago that their debut Lp Eyelid Movies, consisted of more subtle music that favored trip hop and darker music. Make a Fist kicks off with a trip hop drum beat, followed by more digital drums and an almost appreciated guitar strum. Once again Sarah Barthel's vocals go just perfect with this song. The kind of voice that gives you goosebumps. The last two minutes of the song get epic. Turn your volume up a few notches.
When i first imported this album onto my itunes, Nightlife was the first song that played. This is also my pick for hottest track on Nightlife Ep. It is a more mellow record, but again Sarah brings comfort to the song. The final track is entitled Dark Tunnel. It is a bit more uptempo and sounds more like a synth rock record. It feels like a good vs evil record. Josh provides vocals on this track, which was suprising, but after Sarah blessed the chorus, everything was in it's right place again.
Check out the Nightlife Ep by Phantogram on November 1st. It will bring joy to your life.
It has been quite a while since Coldplay has put out an album. Viva La Vida was their last studio album released on June 17, 2008. Over the summer they released an ep, Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall, which includes two songs off the album and a B-side. Now with their new single out Paradise, it's safe to say the group is ready to conquer the world yet again. Their upcoming album is scheduled for October 25th. Original member of the band Roxy Music, Brian Eno lends additional composition to the album. #nextinshow brings you the exclusive album review for Coldplay's Mylo Xyloto.
The album starts off with the self-titled track Mylo Xyloto. The song is a quick instrumental to the album. Chris Martin, frontman of Coldplay, previously stated that Mylo and Xyloto are two characters in the albums storyline. From there, the song blends almost undetected into the next track titled, Hurts Like Heaven. This is an upbeat classic Coldplay sound that almost feels like it belongs in a car commercial.
Paradise, which is the bands next single, comes next. A beautiful string section starts off before being drowned out by an even more epic string section. The song explains a girl trying to make it in the world. When life gets too hard, all she has to do is close her eyes and she will be in paradise. The next track is strangely titled Charlie Brown. Some sort of high pitched chant begins this song. Another epic record that I could only imagine would be amazing live. Things get mellow on Us Against the World. "If we could fly away, float up to the surface and start again". The idea is simple. If we come together, we can have a positive impact on this world for the future of our youth. M.M.I.X begins with rapid guitar strums and ambient sounds. After less than a minute the interlude transitions to Every Teardrop is a Waterfall. First come the synthesizers, letting you know that this track is expecting you on your feet. Then comes the drums, which are a necessity to the equation. The song I think is a metaphor for, Our feeling and emotions are important no matter how big or small the problem.
Major Minus was previously released on the EP. It was my favorite out of the three tracks. It has all the great sounds of old Coldplay and combines it with today's rock star, experimental Coldplay. Another mellow intermission comes with the song U.F.O. This is the way Coldplay started out. Chris Martin's trademarked sound never gets old. Just announced September 9, 2011, the same day the Mylo Xyloto Track list was released, Martin also announced that island princess and diva in the making Rihanna will be featured on the track Princess of China. The songs starts out with a synth or a video game sample being looped. When the drums come in, you can definitely they tailored this beats with Rihanna in mind. The drums have a hip hop influence. Ri Ri comes on the second verse. "Once upon a time, were burning bright, now all we ever seem to do is fight". You know your an amazing artist when you can completely step out of your music genre/element and still be able to stay true and make this song the song that much better. Up In Flames also has some hip hop influence to it, right off the back with it's percussion. Coldplay is very relevant in the hip hop community. Most noticeably Kanye West's Homecoming, and Jay Z's Beach Chair. A Hopeful Transmission should be renamed, A Hopeful Transition. Another 30 second break from our sponsors [Car Ad Here]. Don't Let it Break Your Heart discusses disappointing the person you love. Someone always counting on you and never coming through. Up with the Birds, I believe is a Leonard Cohen reference, as he is listed in the production credits. I feel like the song is broken into two parts. The first part is a Leonard Cohen influenced folk song, and the second half is a much more updated Leonard Cohen influenced folk song, which concludes the album.
[Mylo Xyloto will be a concept album. According to Chris Martin, the album is "based on a love story with a happy ending.", in which two protagonists: Mylo and Xyloto, who are living in an oppressive, dystopian urban environment, meet one another through a gang called "The Lost Boys", and fall in love. Lyrically, the album is inspired by "old school American graffiti" and "the White RoseMovement." Martin also said that the album was influenced by HBO TV series The Wire.Coldplay have stated on several occasions that they want their next studio album to be "more acoustic" and "more intimate" than its predecessor, 2008's Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends.] - Wikipedia
The album is amazing and any fan of Coldplay will appreciate this music. Any fan of music should appreciate this music. It is experimental leaves us wondering if Coldplay will ever release another album, or will Mylo Xyloto complete their discography. Stay tuned... #nextinshow
Earlier tonight Jahlil Tucker aka Jahil Beats, signed to record label Roc Nation. Jahlil is infamous for Chris Brown/Tyga "Holla At Me" and recent radio hit "I'm A Boss" by Meek Mill (longtime friends). Meek recently signed with MayBach Music Group and I thought for sure Jahlil would follow, he is not a follower, he is a leader. This Jahlil is a big part of all of Meek Mill's early success. Them two as a duo is unstoppable. It's time to do their solo projects. UPDATE: apparently the two have drama and are no longer friends. READ HERE #jetlifebeats to get the story. This is the beginning of something great for the young super producer. Having Hova as a boss can't be all that bad. For one, budget and talent will never be a problem. Another plus is, wait until we hear Jay Z go in on a JahlilBeats BEAT. BEEAAAST. 2012 is going to get interesting. #nextinshow
This week has been filled with more Draketober hysteria. At the beginning of the week, It was announced that his album would be pushed back until November 15. Then he interviewed with Funkmaster Flex on Hot97 addressing rumors, such as the one of him and Serena Williams being "more than friends".
His Club Paradise Tour will also be pushed back to coordinate with his album release properly. Be sure to check out Drake's hot performances on Saturday Night Live from earlier tonight. Don't hate, appreciate.
This just in folks. I have located the secret lair of coolness and in there a link, a link to Chill. That's right a link to Chill, literally and figuratively. I assume you may still be a tad confused so please, let me elaborate.
Today while searching through perks on KloutI was presented with an opportunity to join Chill. What the site enables the user to do is literally take the stage in a customized or pre-made room where others via an avatar are there to Chill and listen to great tunes. However, this is not for the music man and the music man alone. They have categorized the rooms as well as giving the ability to do so in one's personal creation of a room. I like to think of these rooms as mini concert halls because there's a stage and your avatar is the one on the stage if you are the VJ. You see they enable each room to have 5 VJs who all rotate to the head VJ and that's when their video of choice is played; and if attendees don't like the video they can "Dislike" the video to decrease it's popularity until it's skipped. You would need half the place to vote, each room I have been in usually has about 80 people. I expect usual numbers like this to grow for the sum of the standard rooms they have.
There are options to search and play videos from YouTube, Vimeo, Justin.TV, Ustream, TwitchTv and YouTubeLiveincluding from one's own channel with a promise to add more services. Well hey, they got the two front runners already in their pocket they can't go wrong from here. To tell the truth the idea is so simple yet so creative and imaginative. The stage, the floor area, the ease and quickness of the video search bar to the customization of avatars. I really feel like I'm at a virtual concert, so why not create your own room and call it your concert. Play your videos from your channel to promote your band, free concerts I say. If you are infatuated with cartoons and want to watch and share with other then go ahead and Chill. I love this idea i can't stress that enough. Please don't forget that you can chat and be interactive during the videos. If you like someone's style you can friend them and be notified when that person is on set again. There are points to be made that let you customize your avatar and eventually will be used I can imagine for prizes, contests, gear etc.
There's one question I have though. YouTube is a search tool for the site. Google own's YouTube and has also coined the "Hang-Out" as the next big wave of social networking and "hanging out" is basically what you do on Chill, just without the VJ capability. So with Chill doing their thing now, I can only imagine Google+ adding the video stream from YouTube capability to the "hang-out". Also the ability to create public hang-outs and with Google+ having it's current millions of users I see the problem of user loyalty being a big concern for Chill. Of course they have probably thought of this already, I'm just the average Joe like everyone reading this with my thoughts. I will say this, Chill has my loyalty as I am loyal to Facebook and not Google+. I think Chill should partner with Facebook, it could be done. The two top founders of Chill do know how to do business and make money. I won't explain how just go Chill and read about "the team".
It was a sad day October 5, 2011, when innovator, entrepreneur and icon, Steve Jobs passed away. Earlier tonight Lil' Wayne decided to take 30minutes out of his schedule to get real and reflect on not only the icon that was Steve Jobs, but touching on 'influences', importance of being yourself and personal info on the rapper himself. Be Sure to Check it out.
Drake is going back on tour, 'Sooner than Later'(drake pun). Unofficially announced through HHU is the Club Paradise Tour, which Drake is Headlining. I'm guessing he hasn't released the news himself yet because he doesn't have the type of buzz he is expecting for his album release. Headlines is a great track, but I believe people are expecting more from him right now. That's a lot of pressure for any 24 year old guy to handle.
Touring alongside him as opening acts are A$APRocky and Kendrick Lamar. This tour will be memorable. Leaders of the new school coming together to provide musical bliss. Only 6 shows have gone on sale so far. Also look out for Drake performing on Saturday Night Live October 15th and Take Care in stores October 24th. stay tuned to #nextinshow for any updates.
UPDATE: Drake just announced his sophomore project Take Care is now slated for a November 15th release date. The new found sweater connoisssuer reveals sample clearances for the reason of the projects delay. Drake breaks down the situation below via his OVO Blog.
The new date for Take Care is November 15th, 2011. I managed to create this album in my hometown of Toronto and the thoughts and stories I wanted to get across just became so clear. It truly felt like when I was here 3 years ago making So Far Gone. So I have completed 19 songs (17 on physical and 2 on bonus), and have run into a roadblock of clearing 3 samples in time to make the October 24th date. My options were to take the songs off and make the birthday release happen, or to take an extra couple weeks to get the paper work right and give you the album they way I NEED you to hear it. The choice was clear as day for me.
November 15th you will get Take Care the exact way I created it with no trimmings. This music means too much to me to get attached to dates and I do apologize for the delay but I promise that it is only for the benefit of our experience together. Club Paradise Tour will also be moved to when students are back from the Christmas/New Year break so that I can get to more schools. New dates will be released in the next week…see you all soon.

Known to many as the Who is Bob? Bob Who? Bob whopwhopwhopwhopwhop genre of electro. Originated in London. A risky genre to make your DJ name in as (some) feel as though there are no vast differences between one Dubstep song and three others on a playlist of ten songs. I beg to differ however, there are noticeable differences. One aspect of Dubstep is of course cutting samples and adding unique lyrics, shall one choose to, but that is the territory. So yeah, choose a sample wisely and you could have yourself a hit.
Dubstep mixes are usually 141bpm sub-bass lines following the four-to-the-floor pattern and played with usually a kick drum, snare drum and hi hat with a half time tempo of 71bpm. Bliss. Also famous is the infamous bass drop in which you feel relieved of life, whatever that means. In Dubstep the bass drop is the oft appreciated whobwhobwhob bass line and the white noise we love. The more bass drops the better chances your song will make it to the club and the greater chances of reaching a broader audience in the newly found insurgence of Dubstep music in other genres such as hip hop. Also doing the vocal work are many Dubstep Djs themselves, just a line or two to compliment the real artist at the live show, the music itself. Dubstep is the "Heavy Metal" of Electro.
Flux Pavilion - I Can't Stop (Nice Bass Drop at 00:30)
Much more can be said about Dubstep but if you are looking to create or attempt your own track this is simple information. As long as you know your definitions and have a great mind on what good music is then go ahead and create it. Many have used main stream songs and remixed them to be Dubstep greats.
